"Rock Licks and Concepts" is a brand new DVD course that explains how to do just this. The course contains 3 DVD's and a datadisc, but whereas many DVD's show you a bunch of licks with no explanation, this course shows you how to understand everything you ever play so that you can apply it to your own playing.

For example did you know that 'Back in Black' is in the key of E mixolydian? "Rock Licks and Concepts" explains why and what you can gain from knowing this.

Did you know that you can use modes over a 12 bar blues or that there is a way of practising sweep picking slow?

The way "Rock Licks and Concepts" does this is by explaining the soloing methods, techniques and theories used by all the great players. What the course isn't is a bunch of licks with no explanation. There are licks to learn on the DVDs but only after an explanation of how to really understand them. So I'll say it again "Don't just learn a lick, learn from a lick"

So Who am I?

I'm Andy Ridgeway, an experienced professional player and most importantly a guitar teacher. I'm also a graduate of The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) - the leading guitar school in Europe where I had the pleasure of being taught by some of the best players in Britain such as Guthrie Govan and Pete Callard. In short I'm a pro musician who knows his stuff and understands the frustrations learning an instrument can bring.

Why did I make this course?

I've discovered through years of teaching that well over 90% of players don't understand what's going on in the songs they play, in terms of harmony and music theory. Even students that come to me with years of experience almost never know the stuff in "Rock Licks and Concepts". Amazingly most degree students don't know this stuff!

Here's an example: Have you ever noticed how "pub players" all sound the same and frankly a little boring? The reason for this is simply that they all play the same. I can tell you now with a great degree of certainty that almost every pub player you'll ever meet knows one pentatonic scale shape well and at best a couple more scale shapes. They learn these scales when they're young and then for some reason learn nothing else for the rest of their lives.

"Why limit yourself?"

Here's an interesting fact. You can always learn something new on guitar that will make you a better player. Anyone who says they know everything is a liar or extremely arrogant and naive. The greatest players in the world are still on a relentless quest for perfection. If Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Eric Johnson, Pat Metheny and Joe Satriani knew everything, why do they still practise?

So that's why I made "Rock Licks and Concepts", to help ensure that your playing doesn't stagnate and that you don't end up sounding like everyone else. In short, I want you to become an awesome player.

.....But only when applied, and whereas most tuitional DVD's want to give you a quick fix, I want to give you immense knowledge and then show you how to use it.
